Conveyor belt rollers and accessories

Conveyor systems and conveyor belt rollers (Förderbandrollen) are integral to modern industry, used for everything from retail and warehousing through to bulk material transport. There are a large range of different conveyor system technologies in use around the world, including gravity roller conveyors, belt conveyors, wire mesh conveyors, plastic belt conveyors, spiral conveyors, vibrating conveyors, pneumatic conveyors, and automotive conveyors. However, while these might be some of the more well known technologies, there are literally hundreds of unique applications on the market. Conveyor belts rollers and accessories are by far the most popular type of conveyor technology in use around the world, with examples of conveyor belts easy to come across everywhere. Some of the common places you might see conveyor belts include the local supermarket checkout, airport baggage service, or sushi restaurant.

Conveyor belt rollers consist of two or more pulleys, one or more of which is motorised. The conveyor belt is attached to the pulleys, and rotates around them in a circular fashion. There are two main types of conveyor belt rollers in use, those used for general material handling and those used for bulk material handling. Some examples of the former include factory transport and retail checkouts, and some examples of the later include agricultural and mining materials in outdoor locations. While the actual technology and materials used are quite similar in some ways, general and bulk conveyor systems operate in a completely different scale and require different mechanisms of automation, security, and control. Some of the accessories and other devices that are used alongside conveyor belts themselves include conveyor rollers, computers, beltweighters, loading mechanisms and belt driver motors.

Conveyor systems play an important role in modern society, with many industry sectors completely reliant on them for day to day activities. Conveyor belt systems have been in use since 1892, although the early systems looked very different to the ones that we see today. In 1892, Thomas Robins developed a conveyor belt system that was designed for carrying coal, ores and other earth products. Another important advancement took place in 1905, when Richard Sutcliffe invented the first conveyor belts for use inside coal mines. In 1913, Henry Ford introduced the first version of the modern conveyor belt assembly line, at the Ford Motor Company's Highland Park, Michigan. Ever since this time, conveyor belt rollers and associated technology has been in widespread use throughout the developed and developing world.
